Healing PTSD, Trauma & Depression
Restoring Hope, Self-Value & Peace
Finding Fresh Purpose in Life
Things happen in life that change us, sometimes in ways we didn't ask for. Experiencing emotional trauma, being in the military, a veteran, a first responder or being married to someone who has served gives us a change in many ways in our lives. Military and first responder life consumes us and becomes a part of us. It is something that never seems to separate from us.
Likewise, serving in war, experiencing trauma, hurt, PTSD, suicidal desires or having a loved one experience trauma can take a piece of us away that we once had. That void wasn't meant for us to have. We are left with feeling we always are trying to climb out of the effects of the hurt. Any peace, joy or love that was taken from us in life wasn't meant to be taken from us. Exposure to the witness of war or someone doing something hurtful to us creates a change in our lives that leaves us different and for many of us struggling and wishing we were who we once were. We need healing. This can happen to someone who has experienced any type of trauma or hurt. Our true identity can get lost, our original identity for why we were created, our purpose in Life. There is no reason to consider suicide or to believe you cannot be healed from depression, trauma or PTSD
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord , “
Jeremiah 29:11-14 NIV -God Speaking.
“ ‘Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security. I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me. Jeremiah 33:6, 8 NIV -God Speaking
If Jesus Christ and Father God's love has been misrepresented to you in the past, or you have been hurt by the church or religion and are afraid to approach or trust him for healing, I encourage you to let the Word of God speak itself to you. This is truth He has established. It is about you and Him one on one right now, no one else standing in the way to confuse your understanding of God and His nature and will toward you.
You were not created to carry war with you for life. You were not created to carry trauma, hurt, or carry the effects of someone exposed to trauma. It is a burden Jesus paid for and He wants to take it from you. Choose to give it to Him. Don't let the attitude that you are tough enough and can handle the pain and it is part of life stand in the way. That is an indication it already has your identity. And that isn't God or the best for you.
If you served in the military or as a first responder, today is not your day to serve, its your day to receive. He wants the opportunity to take it away and give peace but won't take it if you are not willing. He always lets you have the choice to choose Him because He loves you and gave you the freedom of choice. You can't love without free will. He took the risk you would say no when He gave you free will when He created you.
We have experienced PTSD and there is nothing you have experienced that we haven't experienced, and Jesus set us free from PTSD and healed our body. He will do it for you.
You were not meant to carry fear, anger, worthlessness, guilt, shame or condemnation. Jesus frees you from them and restores your self-worth because He values you and your spirit, soul and body. He frees you of from your past when He forgives and rewrites the script of your life. There is nothing His finished work on the Cross can't do for you no matter what burden you bear or what you have done, witnessed or had done to you.
Allow yourself to forgive. Forgive yourself, forgive all others no matter what they have done or how much it hurts. Forgive them for your own health and healing. Ask Father God to forgive you. He is eager to do it. Choose Him brother or sister. Let Him be your adequacy, security, confidence and to restore your identity today and lead you into peace. He is for you. He is the healer. Accept Him because in Jesus you are accepted by God as His child.
Our true Identity is we are sons and daughters of God and He created us to experience relationship with Him. Our identity is all found through the Cross by the Work of Jesus Christ to reconcile us to God. God is for us and renews us to live out our full identity as sons and daughters of God.
God loved us so much He sent His son Jesus to reconcile us to Him by His death and resurrection and paid for sin for all. He paid for any sins that were done against us or by us. So we can live forgiven with a clear conscious, with no guilt, shame or condemnation.
The Father values mercy, love, peace, joy, grace, goodness and compassion. He has all of these for you. See yourself through the cross and Christ's work for you and ask the Father's forgiveness and follow Him. Living in your full identity is found in it. Your healing is found in His resurrection power.
The Kingdom of God values Life. When we believe, ask for forgiveness and repent, the Spirit of God comes into us and gives our spirit eternal life through union of God's Spirit with our spirit. This inner dwelling of the Spirit of God creates an inner man/woman that God sees through a new lens of Christ Jesus. Forgiven, reconciled to Him and Holy, blameless and without accusation. No shame, no guilt, no condemnation. Full of value.
We live our lives thereafter with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to give love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Our lives transform and His Holy Spirit within us releases the Kingdom of God from within us. He will empower you with His Spirit to live under the freedom that Jesus provides. He will give you new task and purpose in your life. Task and purpose to serve and do good on a whole new level.
Choose Him today. Choose Him for Life and Life more abundantly. Submit your burden to Him, let Jesus take it. Lay it at His feet, ask Him to take it and forgive you, as you forgive yourself and others, and ask Him to fill you with His Spirit. Let Him then heal you and give you new purpose.
Ask yourself, Who AM I? Then fill in the blank. Now read the verses below to see Who God says you are. then ask yourself the question again, Who AM I?
Find Him yourself in these Words He has given for you. We cannot afford to see ourselves differently than He sees you or have an identity that is different than He gave you. We encourage you to then talk to Him, ask Him to heal your heart and soul.
Be restored to strength and honor
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, Titus 3:4-6 NIV
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
John 3:16-18 NIV
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
I John 1:8-9 NKJV
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
John 14:6 NASB
“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 NKJV
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1 NIV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 NIV
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." John 10:10 NASB
-Jesus speaking. (referring to the devil as the thief)
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 NIV
As for me, I will call upon God, And the Lord shall save me.
Psalms 55:16 NKJV
Now ask yourself, Who Am I? Does your prior answer align with the Words you just read that reveal His love, mercy and will for you.
What does your new answer reflect? Does it align with His answer for you?
If my identity says I am still hurt by someone, I am not free of shame or hurt. For your sake and healing, forgive the person regardless of how hard it may be.
If my identity says I am guilty for what I have done and feel condemnation, He wants you to confess your wrongs (sin) and live forgiven and free of guilt, condemnation and judgement.
Come to Him now and lay it at His feet. If you are not sure how, speak this prayer to Him:
Father God and Jesus, you are Lord and I ask your forgiveness for any sin or hurt I have caused you and I change my way of thinking and want to be transformed by Holy Spirit. I receive you as Savior. I forgive myself, I forgive _____ who has hurt Me. Fill Me with Your Spirit, be my Lord, Lead Me.
God will respond.
